Guy has been playing drums since age nine. His public career began with the Shorewood High School concert orchestra. Guy first found acclaim with roots rock band BoDeans, and later became a member of folk punk legends Violent Femmes. Guy has worked with notable producers like T-Bone Burnett and Andy Johns. He appears on BoDeans debut album Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams, and can also be heard and seen on the Rhino Records reissue CD/DVD set, including music videos for “She’s A Runaway” and “Fadeaway.” His “Still the Night,” co-written with Sam Llanas and Kurt Newman, appears in “The Color of Money.”
Guy reunited with BoDeans’ singer/songwriter Sam Llanas to record A Good Day To Die. Guy recorded two versions of “Blister In The Sun” with Violent Femmes for the “Grosse Pointe Blank” motion picture soundtrack. The Violent Femmes release, Violent Femmes: Archive Series No. 2 – Live in Chicago at Q101, features Guy on drums and vocals. Guy has also featured in motion picture and television productions such as “Woodstock ’94,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” VH-1 Hard Rock Live, MTV and more. He is the composer and music director of films such as “Field Day” and “The Scarapist.” Guy has performed in numerous music videos and on talk shows like American Bandstand and Late Night With Conan O’Brian.
